Climate

Many churches seem to be jumping on the bandwaggons of ‘net zero’, rising sea levels and
other invisible catastrophes. It is important for us to take the bible more seriously and to
research a little more deeply than simply believing popular news outlets.
After the great flood, God promised:

The earth will end, at the time God decides that Jesus will return (2 Peter 3:10). Nothing is
more important for us than being ready for that day, when we will each face God as our judge
(eg Matthew 25:31-46). It would be a terrible mistake to neglect that while trying to save this
world. We must trust God and his promise for the world.

As Christians, we value the great beauty of God’s creation, and part of ‘loving our neighbour’
is caring about good practices of land management. We love to see the land flourish, and
provide resources for all. But much of today’s climate alarmism seems to be based on
spurious science that silences dissenting voices. It also leads to ethically questionable policies
that only increase the rich-poor divide, increase the control of those in power, and treat
people as a problem to the planet – when God views people as the pinnacle of his creation
(Genesis 1:28).
